Based on a survey, we did write an basic article at Asia Hotel Directory which shows that there is an ever increasing trend that travelers, tourists and even business people do search for hotel accommodation online.
The results of the survey show again clearly that hoteliers must focus much more on their own website to market their property properly.
It also needs to be said that it is shocking to know that there are still so many managers and owners who who do not understand the importance of a “working” website for e-marketing. Those people who do not understand and accept the new rules of marketing through the internet are a liability of the business.
I do not say that the ‘old rules of marketing’ do not exist anymore, but i am saying with confidence that the trend and facts clearly show that much more importance should be given to your website, SEO and e-marketing.

First of all, I like to say HR skills are very much needed in all managers, simply because one of several main responsibilities of any manager is “people management”. As a former director of human resources and a current human resource lecturer & trainer, I theorize some human resource functions that need both “Science” and “Art” practices to share here in Mai-BS’s blog.
With “Science”, I mean the “system” of HR implementation and with “Art” I mean the “style” of the HR manager. To be called a 5-star company, system and style cannot be separated from each function of human resource practices. Thus, I would like to share the following “system” for HR implementation and “style” of HR manager.

I am sure that everyone
will agree that effective communication is challenging and leading an
organization successfully, brings along such a challenge. Many things succeed because of good communication,
while many failures are blamed on communication as well. The trick of the trade is whether the
communication is “effective”.

Back in March, I blogged about "The Idiot from Corporate"
and corporate poobah visits to branch locations. Experienced managers
know that there is more than one kind of idiot from corporate. Emails
over the last several months have convinced me that we need to break
the down the group into identifiable sub-groups. Feel free to suggest
your own.
The Sea Gull. The Sea Gull flies in, makes a lot of noise, dumps on everybody, and leaves.

I found this on the net and though i share with you. Its funny …… and maybe educational as well!!
- Never offer fair market pay.
- Constantly underestimate the
time it takes to get things done and then penalize employees' bonuses
because they didn't hit the goal.
- Talk more than you listen.

This story is about the
Service at Immigration at Suvanabumi International Airport, Thailand.
The current worldwide
crisis that affects all businesses, including our fragile tourism industry here
in Thailand, our Government is investing thousands of millions Thai Baht to
help boost the tourism business.
I am not sure
whether the government knows how to use this high amount of investment and
whether they use it in the right way. Should any government officer see this
article, I think they may like to consider using some of the investment to
train the immigration officers here in Thailand! Or may be they don’t care…. I
am not sure.

.. a talk at Queen
Sirikit National Convention Center, Thailand
During crisis, most times, we think about
training staff, stop overtime-time payments, cut expense on your Human
Resources, unpaid leave policy or even lay offs. I cannot say this is wrong, as long as it is
most suitable and relevant to the situation.
On August 6, 2009 I was invited to be one
of the panelists talking about “360 degree management for the tourism and
hospitality industry during a “crisis” – organized by KBank, Thailand at Queen
Sirikit National Convention Center. (I
personally admire KBank a great deal for their continuous educational
activities for their clients and non-clients as what they have done reflecting
a sincere banking business).
I wish to summarize some of my talk in this
article as well as to extend some subjects here that I only lightly talked
about at Queen Sirikit Convention Center.

Been hearing the buzz about social media but not sure how to make it work for
you? New construction, conversion, or reflagging hotels can make great use of
Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and other social media tools. Here are a few ways to
do it.
- To Replace the Boring Old
Newsletter. Rather than sending out a monthly newsletter to update your
clients, create a Facebook Fan Page for your new hotel. Use the status
update tool to do just that – update your fans about the status of the
hotel's construction or conversion. No detail is too minute – people
really are interested in the hand-woven wall covering – but don't
overwhelm. Once a day is plenty.
